Also today: St. Matthew, Apostle and Evangelist Red β€” Ezekiel 2:8–3:11 Β· Psalm 119:33-40 Β· Ephesians 4:7-16 Β· Matthew 9:9-13

Introit. I KNOW Whom I have believed: and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day. There is laid up for me a crown of righteousness: which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me. Psalm. O Lord, Thou hast searched me and known me: Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising.

O ALMIGHTY God, Who by Thy blessed Son didst call Matthew from the receipt of custom to be an Apostle and Evangelist: Grant us grace to forsake all covetous desires, and inordinate love of riches, and to follow the same Thy Son Jesus Christ, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Ghost, ever One God, world without end. Amen.

Gradual. THEIR sound went forth through all the earth: and their words to the end of the world. V. The heavens declare the glory of God: and the firmament showeth His handiwork. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. V. I have chosen you out of the world: that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain. Hallelujah.

Collect, introit, and gradual from the Common Service Book of the Lutheran Church (1917), public domain.
